Margaret Atwood Studies is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Margaret Atwood Society, the international association of scholars, teachers, and students who share an interest in Atwood’s work. The main goal of both the Society and the journal is to promote scholarly exchange of Atwood’s works and cultural contributions by providing opportunities for scholars to access, disseminate, and exchange information.
The publication of Margaret Atwood Studies began in 2007, when the Society replaced the newsletter it had published from its start in 1984 with a print journal. The first seven volumes of the journal were published in print (2007-2013), and the eigth volume (2014) was distributed to subscribers electronically in PDF format. In 2015 the Society put Margaret Atwood Studies online, using PKP Open Journal Systems software and server resources from partner institution Saint Xavier University.
The Society currently publishes an annual edition. The journal includes a comprehensive annotated bibliography of the preceding year’s publications by and about Atwood. Margaret Atwood Society Awards are named each year (please see the Society’s awards page for specific categories). The winning graduate student essay is published in Margaret Atwood Studies, along with abstracts of winners in other categories.
The journal always invites submissions (from both members and nonmembers of the Society alike). For more information about manuscript submissions, please see the submission guidelines.
